How we can get rid of Stretch marks?

How we can get rid of Stretch marks?
May 06, 2022

Stretch marks appear as long, narrow streaks, stripes, or lines on the skin. They are fairly common and appear when the skin is stretched abruptly. Stretch marks may affect everyone, although women are more likely to have them than men.

How do stretch marks appear on skin?

When the skin is unable to return to its former shape after a period of fast growth, such as during pregnancy, weight increase, weight loss, or puberty, this type of scarring develops. More than half of all pregnant women have stretch marks. They can show up on the stomach, thighs, hips, breasts, upper arms, and lower back, among other places on the body.

Signs and symptoms

Before stretch marks appear, the skin may appear thin and pink. It might also be irritated or inflamed. The marks appear as wrinkled, raised stripes that might be red, purple, pink, reddish-brown, or dark brown, depending on skin tone. The streaks fade and flatten with time, and they take on a silvery hue. Stretch marks can vanish with time, but it might take months or even years.

Some of the most prevalent causes of skin stretching:

According to a credible source, stretchmarks develop in 50 to 90 percent of pregnant women during or after birth.

Puberty: In young people, puberty is marked by fast weight gain. Stretch marks may develop as a result.

Rapid weight gain: If you gain a lot of weight in a short amount of time, you could get stretch marks.

Medical conditions: Marfan syndrome and Cushing's syndrome are two medical conditions that can generate stretch marks. Cushing's disease causes the body to produce too much hormone, resulting in rapid weight gain and skin fragility, whereas Marfan syndrome causes skin tissue to become less flexible.

Corticosteroid therapy: Corticosteroid creams and lotions can increase collagen levels in the skin over time. when there are high amounts of circulating cortisone or cortisone is administered to the skin, they are more prone to develop and grow more severe. Cortisone is a stress hormone generated by the adrenal glands. Elastic fibers in the skin are weakened as a result of this.

What are the skin structural changes with Stretch marks?

Stretch marks form in the middle layer of skin, when connective tissue is stretched beyond its elasticity.

This is usually caused by fast skin expansion or contraction. The connective fibers in the dermis gradually stretch to support sluggish development as the body expands. Rapid growth, on the other hand, results in unexpected stretching. The dermis tears as a result, enabling deeper layers of skin to expose. This can cause stretch marks and alter their appearance.

Stretch marks fade to a silvery, white, or glossy appearance over time as the pale fat beneath the skin replaces the normal blood vessels.

Prevention

Stretch marks are not always avoidable. The following actions, however, may assist to lessen the risk:

Keep your weight in check.

Yo-yo dieting is unhealthy.

Consume a vitamin and mineral-rich, well-balanced diet. Vitamins A and C, as well as the minerals zinc and silicon, can help maintain the skin.

During pregnancy, aim for a steady weight increase.

Every day, drink six to eight glasses of water.

Treatment

It's very hard to completely eliminate stretch marks. But don't panic: there are actions you can take to decrease their appearance, including replenishing your skin's collagen.

Stretch mark treatments have included creams, gels, lotions, and cosmetic surgery, despite the fact that there is little medical proof to back up their usefulness.

Light and laser treatment

Evidence shows that laser therapy may be effective. Laser treatment has consistently decreased the appearance of stretch marks by 50–75 percent in tests. Light beams are used in laser treatment to break up scar tissue and invigorate damaged tissues. The fractional CO2 laser creates microscopic micropunctures in the skin in a grid pattern, with healthy skin bridges in between.

How CO2 fractional laser works?

The technique tightens the skin and increases collagen formation. Stretch marks compress and grow smaller as a result of this. 2 to 3 treatments spaced 3 to 6 months apart generally yield the best results. Depending on the region to be treated, the treatment takes around an hour.

Microneedling

The microneedling technique is a minimally invasive procedure that includes passing a number of small, extremely fine needles over the skin to create micro-injuries that activate new collagen and elastin synthesis as the skin begins to naturally mend itself.

How Microneedling works?

Because stretch marks disturb collagen synthesis, microneedling will not only assist to restart it, but the overproduction of elastin and collagen will also aid in the repair of the damaged connective tissue in the dermis that causes the stretch mark. Microneedling is effective for stretch marks because it penetrates the skin deeply enough to trigger a response inside the same layers as the stretch marks rather than just on the surface.
