Make sure you get enough of water
We sometimes forget to drink enough water during the day when it's chilly outdoors, yet this is precisely when low humidity is most likely to dehydrate our fragile skin. Remember to sip carefully throughout the day rather than gulping it down, and to drink from a reusable bottle . Warming winter teas, such as natural ginger and lemon, are a great method to stay hydrated in the winter since they make you feel healthy, hydrated, and snug all at the same time. It's a win-win situation for everyone!
Carefully select a cleanser
Many high-street cleansers include harsh chemicals that can harm rather than nurture the skin. Alcohol and any extra scents are bad for dry, cracked skin since they rob the skin of its natural oils. Cream-based cleansers, assist to retain hydration while also removing grime and make-up from the day. Look for washes that say 'for sensitive skin,' 'dye free,' and 'fragrance free,' among other things. They frequently contain hydrating substances like as hyaluronic acid, ceramides, oils, shea butter, and oats, rather than drying ones.
Keep the showers time to a minimum and lower Shower Water Temperatures
When it's chilly outside, it's tempting to grab for the dial, turn up the heat, and have a long, hot shower or bath. Hot showers and extended baths, on the other hand, are strictly prohibited. Excessively hot water will not only dry you, but it will also deplete your body of its essential oils. It's a clue that you've overdone it if your skin is irritatingly red and itching when you get out of the shower. But everything is not lost. In the following stage, we'll take care of you. A warm shower (or bath) for 5 to 10 minutes is less likely to aggravate dry skin than a hot one. A decent rule of thumb is that if the water turns red on your skin, it's too hot.
Apply a natural moisturizer to your skin just after you've washed it
Carefully select your face moisturizer and body lotion. To preserve important moisturizing action of oils in your skin, we recommend oil-based products rather than water-based treatments. During the winter, We recommend using a heavier cream that comes out of a jar or tube rather than a pump for the body. Because lotions that come from a pump are thinner and more watery, they can easily evaporate from the skin's surface after application and aren't thick or hydrating enough. To seal in as much moisture as possible, apply moisturizer or body lotion soon after bathing, and don't forget to include your hands and feet, which are the most hardworking regions of your body! Apply a thicker moisturizer to your entire body at night, including your arms, legs, and belly. A moisturizing balm (such as petroleum jelly or similar ointment) for your lips will help repair dry, cracked lips and prevent chapping.
Invest in a Humidifier to Increase Moisture Absorption
The outside air carries less water and is drier and colder during the lower winter months. A humidifier in your home or workplace will assist to keep your skin moisturized by restoring moisture to the air. Keep indoor humidity levels between 30 and 50 percent by using a humidifier throughout your house or in the places where you spend the most time. One alternative is to turn it on when you're asleep at night. You can buy a humidity meter if you're not sure how humid your home is.
For glowing skin, exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin throughout the winter may be the last thing on your mind when you have dry, itchy skin, but there are benefits to doing so. It not only removes dry, dead skin cells, but it also aids in the regeneration of new ones. Use natural, exfoliating scrubs like orange scrub on your skin, or check out the list of easy-to-make homemade recipes that just require materials from your kitchen cupboard!
Defend yourself against the elements
Winter is unquestionably more difficult on your skin than summer. We may have the pocket essential lip balm to care for dry, chapped lips out in the open, but we require more. Remember to bundle up since the combination of low humidity and strong, searing winds can cause extremely dry skin. To protect your hands and the sensitive skin on your neck, you'll need a scarf and gloves. When it comes to skin irritation, a lot of cold-weather clothes can be irritating when worn directly on your skin. To prevent yourself from any harsh or scratchy winter textiles that are annoying to your skin when worn alone, we recommend using natural, breathable base layers.
Summer isn't the only time to use sunscreen
During the summer, we may instantly go for the sunscreen, but sunscreen is just as vital in the winter to protect us from the dangerous UV rays. Don't be deceived by the darker, gloomier days of winter. Even while clouds block up to 80% of the sun's damaging UV rays, they can still inflict damage. Cover your face, neck, and hands (if they're exposed) with a sunscreen that has at least SPF 30 protection. The Skin Cancer Institute suggests reapplying sunscreen every two hours and soon after heavy perspiration if you're out on the slopes. Don't forget about the easy-to-overlook areas like the back of the neck, lips, ears, and under the chin!
It’s time for skin rejuvenation treatments!
